Making new friends in London thanks to the EUK London Summer PicNic.

When the British summer decides to make an appearance, there’s no better place to be than one of London’s beautiful parks!

On Saturday 25th July, English UK London welcomed international students from across the capital for our Summer Picnic 2026, and what a fantastic day it turned out to be. The sunshine certainly didn’t disappoint—in fact, it may even have been a little too hot for the UK! ☀️

Students from more than seven different countries came together to enjoy a relaxed afternoon filled with games, sport, music, delicious food and, most importantly, new friendships.

The picnic perfectly reflected what studying English in London is all about. While everyone came from different backgrounds and cultures, English became the language that connected them all. Throughout the afternoon, students chatted, laughed, shared stories about life back home and discovered just how much they had in common.

One of the highlights of the day was the English UK London Scrumble Challenge, brilliantly organised and hosted by Mili (from our partner school BSC Education London), our fantastic EUK London Activities Monitor for the day. Working together in international teams, students put their English language skills to the test, combining vocabulary, teamwork and plenty of laughter as they competed to become Scrumble champions…which they all were!

Beyond the games, the picnic gave students the opportunity to exchange cultural traditions, music, travel experiences and future aspirations. Many spoke about how studying English in London is helping them grow in confidence, become more independent and open doors to better career opportunities back home and around the world.

Events like these remind us that learning English extends far beyond the classroom. Every conversation, every shared meal and every new friendship becomes part of the learning journey.
