What a fantastic afternoon we had yesterday at the English UK London Super Friendly 5-a-Side Football Tournament 2026!

Hosted at Powerleague Shepherd’s Bush, the event brought together international students from several English UK London member schools for an afternoon filled with football, friendship, laughter and true international spirit.
And honestly? At times it almost felt like we were watching a smaller — but certainly not less important — version of the FIFA World Cup kicking off today.
Students from all over the world came together to represent their schools with passion, energy and incredible team spirit. Different languages, cultures and nationalities mixed naturally both on and off the pitch, reminding us once again why London remains one of the greatest international student destinations in the world.
Despite the very typical London weather — a bit of rain followed by sunshine — the atmosphere remained absolutely brilliant from start to finish. Players gave their all during every match, while fellow students cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines, creating an amazing sense of community and belonging.
One of the most beautiful aspects of the day was seeing students from different schools meeting each other, making new friends and sharing experiences together beyond the classroom. The event was never only about football: it was about connection, inclusion and celebrating the international nature of our ELT community.
The matches themselves were played with outstanding sportsmanship, friendliness and mutual respect throughout the afternoon. Every team brought fantastic energy, positivity and competitive spirit while always keeping the event fun and welcoming for everyone involved.
And of course, congratulations go to this year’s champions… 🏆

Their team showed excellent teamwork, determination and great football skills throughout the tournament, fully deserving this year’s trophy. Huge congratulations to all players and supporters!
As the sun finally came out to celebrate the winners, many students continued the evening together at the pub, enjoying a little bit of British culture, sharing laughs and creating even more unforgettable memories together. 🍻✨
A very special thank you also goes to the one and only Kellen, Marketing Lead at Islington Centre for English, for capturing some fantastic photos and videos from the day
Now the big question is already in the air…
Who knows!
Until then, access this link and enjoy some of the amazing pictures and videos from yesterday’s event — and thank you once again to every school, student and staff member who helped make this such a successful and memorable day for our international student community.
