International House London was founded in 1953 by John and Brita Haycraft, and is renowned as one of the best language schools in the world. In 1964 they set up a non-profit-making Educational Trust committed to raising the standards of English language teaching and training world-wide. In 1962 International House London was the first school to introduce a formalised teacher training qualification, known today as the CELTA course. Today International House
London welcomes over 7,000 students
from over 150 countries around the world.

Find the right English course for you

Courses are taught in small classes of 12 to 14 students at 13 different levels of study. Our teachers are the best in the industry, being extremely well qualified, enthusiastic and with many having trained at International House London. The teachers at International House help you to communicate confidently, effectively, and speak with the correct pronunciation.

International House London offers the choice of daytime or evening courses, full-time or part-time, in groups or one-to-one, as well as specialist courses such as the Cambridge exam preparation courses and IELTS exam preparation courses.

During the spring and summer we offer residential English language courses for Young Learners, aged between 12-17 years old, at either our IH Oxford or IH Ellesmere centres. Both centres are based at traditional English boarding schools, providing top class facilities and education for the students.

Studying and living in London

International House London is located in the heart of Covent Garden, one of London’s most fashionable districts. International House London is conveniently located close to a variety of cafes, theatres and shops, all within walking distance. We offer a lively Social Programme during the week and weekends, offering a taste of the best that London has to offer. Students can choose from activities such as a walking tour of Westminster, tickets to the theatre or opera house, bowling or table tennis sessions and weekend city trips.

The International House Accommodation Office helps all full-time students to find a place to stay, with options ranging from halls of residence to homestays with local families. We also have a Welfare Officer on site, who is available to give you help and advice when needed.
